Pick it up and turn it over
Every plaque, in every finish, rendered from the same artwork we send to print. Drag it, spin it, look at the edge — then drop it onto a counter the colour of yours. This is what turns up in the box.
Three parts, none of them clever
A passive chip
An NTAG213, 25 mm across, sitting under the print. It has no battery and no power of its own — the phone's own field wakes it for the fraction of a second it takes to hand over a link. Nothing to charge, nothing to replace, nothing to fail at 4pm on a Saturday.
Cast acrylic
Not metal, and that is a decision rather than a saving: NFC will not read through metal, so a metal plaque is a plaque that fails in front of a customer. Acrylic takes the print cleanly, keeps its edge, and wipes down at the end of service like everything else on your counter.
An adhesive base
3M VHB across the whole base, so it sits flat and stays put on timber, stone or laminate. Leave it loose on the counter if you would rather move it around — the weight is enough that it does not skate.
One thing worth knowing, because it decides where a plaque can go: NFC does not read through metal. If your counter is stainless or zinc, the plaque sits on top of it, never underneath, and we work that out on the walkthrough.
Choose the one your room already owns
Every finish is made in both shapes — the round general plaque and the square review plaque.
Sand
The default. Warm paper tone that sits into timber and terrazzo without drawing a line around itself.
Ink
Near-black with brass detail. The one for dark fit-outs, bars and anywhere the counter is already dark.
Chalk
Clean white. Disappears on marble and white stone, reads loudest from a distance.
Forest
Deep green with brass. The one for venues with plants, tile and colour already in play.
The same four, in the review plaque
When you want it read from across the room
The round plaque is quiet on purpose and says nothing about reviews — it is the one you point at a menu, a booking page or an event. The review plaque is the opposite: five brass stars, the word REVIEW at full height, and the instruction underneath, so a customer works out what it is at a glance.
Same chip, same software, same finishes. Venues generally run the review plaque at the register where the ask happens, and round plaques on the tables, where each one reports separately.
Your branding instead of ours
Custom plaques carry your logo, your colours and your wording, printed to the same spec. It is a small monthly addition per plaque rather than a large one-off, and it takes about a week longer to land.
Most venues start with the standard plaque and move to custom once they have seen a month of numbers. There is no penalty for switching.
90 × 8 mm, and the same every time
Each plaque is drawn to a single master file with fixed diameter, depth, chip window and print bleed. The one on your counter in March matches the one you add in September.
